The On Bricole platform is operated by DEHB Solutions Technologiques Inc, 425 Rue Honoré-Mercier, G7H 3J7, Chicoutimi.
This policy states exactly what happens to your information when you close your account, what we keep anyway, for how long and why. It complements the Privacy Policy.
1. Two different actions
Closing your account ends your presence on the Platform. Having a specific item erased is different: you can ask at any time without closing your account, and we act on it where keeping the item is no longer justified.
Before closing your account, export your data: the “My data” button produces a complete file. After closure, we can no longer provide it.
2. How to close your account
On the website: My profile. In the app: Account → Delete my account. If your account has a password, you will be asked for it — that is the proof the request is really yours.
Closure is immediate and irreversible. We keep no “dormant” account that could be reopened.
3. When closure is refused
We refuse while money is at stake, because closing then would harm someone:
- a contract is in progress or in dispute;
- a payment is still held in escrow;
- a withdrawal is pending;
- a seasonal contract is active.
The message tells you which of these is blocking. Finish or settle, then try again.
4. What is destroyed immediately
- your sign-in credentials: password, Google and Facebook links, sessions open on all your devices;
- your devices registered for push notifications;
- your phone verification codes;
- your notifications;
- your saved requests;
- your private calendar token and your referral code.
5. What is erased from your record
Your email, last name, first name, phone, photo, biography, address, postal code and geographic coordinates are removed. Your profile leaves the directory and matching, your identity verification is revoked and your consent to communications is withdrawn. Your display name becomes “Deleted account”.
Your still-open requests are cancelled, your pending offers withdrawn, your recurring series and seasonal proposals closed.
6. What survives — and why
We anonymise rather than erase the traces of exchanges that took place, because they are not yours alone:
- contracts, payments, invoices, commissions and tips — tax and accounting law requires us to keep them, and the other party is entitled to their proof;
- reviews given and received — a worker’s reputation cannot evaporate because a client closes their account, and vice versa;
- messages — a conversation belongs to both people; erasing your half would make the other unintelligible and strip a dispute of its context.
In all these cases, nothing ties those items to an identifiable person any more: only “Deleted account” remains.
7. Retention periods
- Account and profile — while the account exists.
- After account closure — immediate anonymisation.
- Accounting and tax records (contracts, payments, commissions, tips) — 6 years after the end of the relevant fiscal year.
- Items useful in case of dispute — until the applicable limitation period expires, as a rule 3 years.
- Identity document images — for the duration of verification, then destroyed at the latest 12 months after the decision.
- Technical logs and error reports — at most 90 days.
- Backup copies — replaced in the normal cycle, at most 35 days.
Erased data may therefore survive a few weeks in a backup. Those backups serve only disaster recovery and are never consulted for any other reason.
8. Deletion initiated by us
We may close an account for fraud, serious abuse or legal obligation. The same retention rules then apply, and amounts legitimately owed to you remain owed.
9. Erasing a specific item
Write to us through the Contact page stating the item concerned. We respond within 30 days. If we must refuse — because the law requires us to keep the record, for example — we explain why and state your remedies.
10. Remedies
If our answer does not satisfy you, you may complain to the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec, or to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada where federal law applies.
